Hi All! I got one of those art supply subscriptions and just got my first box. There was some interest in seeing what they'd be like so I've got pictures within. The have both a premium and a regular subscription. I got a few months of premium.

The box itself! Not bad. They put customer art on the boxes. I was sort of hoping it would be something I could color in, tho.

The supplies, a sticker, info on the supplies and a card with art made just from those supplies. The card is a really cool idea. This box came with 2 copic sketch markers, 2 copic ciao markers, 1 derwent sketching pencil, a pentel stylo drawing pen and a sketchbook.
The drawing pen is interesting. It's got a plastic nib sort of like a stylus. I've bought a lot of pens supposedly meant for inking. Most of them had felt in them. While I am very fond of felt in other contexts, the felt in those pens always seemed to quickly clog with graphite and stop working. Inking pens dying on me has been a pain point for me and made me give up on certain projects. This isn't meant to be an inking pen but so far it works well as one!
The sketchbook is also really nice, lots of pages.

Testing out the pens. You can see the odd nib on the pen. I've already gone over some of my old sketches with it and really like it. Very nice control. If it holds up, I may need bunches. Pencil sketches just don't share well online.
Overall, I am very happy with it. The only downside is that while the sketchbook is really nice, it's not great paper for the markers. They do bleed through.

Date: 2017-12-01 11:00 pm (UTC)I have a bit of a copic marker addiction problem. For now it's been downgraded by my fountain pen/dip pen calligraphy habit, but I'm sure it'll come roaring back soon...
