Title: You up for more dancing, sailor?
Artist: mekare
Rating: G
Fandom: original art, but inspired by Agent Carter's Rose
Character: a sassy red-headed gal on a night out
Content Notes: pastels, I'd appreciate some tips for creating darker values. Or maybe I should start working on a dark background so the shadows are already there?

I didn't finish the art I meant to make for the Body Diversity challenge, but I did notice a fun trend of plump cute monster girls, so I thought I'd contribute this miss.

Title: 4C Lineup 2018
Artist: [personal profile] syntheid
Rating: Actual picture is G, video is maybe PG-13 or something for implied nudity because I sketched them all 'art naked' first.
Fandom: Original
Characters/Pairings: All original, from my own project I've had for decades.

post preview (Over on Tumblr.)

I've had these kids for ages. There's sort of a story behind them, but it's a mystery if I'll ever write it. I still feel like I don't quite have enough body diversity in the main cast, but it's getting better.

The looks I'm attempting to capture are: Asher is a long-time hard drug addict and very malnourished as a result, Corey is ... more or less AFAB enby though still uses female pronouns and she's tall and lanky, Giselle is very femme and petite and chubby, Jacob has usable muscle-- he's used to doing strenuous physical activity not bodybuilding for show, and Nathaniel is genderfluid but AMAB and Tall.

Title: Heart Speak
Artist: [personal profile] goss
Rating: G
Fandom: Original Art
Characters/Pairings: n/a
Content Notes: Created for [community profile] drawesome's Challenge #15: Body Type Diversity. Title taken from a Hopi/Choctaw saying: "To watch us dance is to hear our hearts speak".

This was painted using watercolours, with additional colour tinting in Photoshop. I wanted to use the paint strokes to give a sense of movement and feeling. I may have had a bit *too* much fun splashing on the background...if only there was a Real Life "undo" button, I'd probably go back a few steps, but for the most part I'm satisfied with the results. :b

Medium: watercolour/gouache
Fandom: Game of Thrones
Characters: Tyrion Lannister, Varys
Summary: Tyrion and Varys in Pentos, looking wary.

Title: Lumps of Pudding
Artist: amberdreams
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Fandom: None.
Summary: There's a old British folk tune called Lumps of Pudding, which is a jig that was popular in the late 18th/early 19th centuries. Some time in the 1790s H.W Bunbury drew a long comic-style strip of people dancing the Lumps of Pudding jig, and I've done my own version. This is just an extract because I've submitted a lot more dancing people as my design for a giant snail for a sculpture trail in Brighton, and we aren't allowed to share the complete designs yet.
Content Notes: Submitted for the Body Type Diversity challenge because these folks might all be white but they are diverse! LOL

Title: From the Fjords
Artist: [personal profile] mific
Rating: PG-13 (naked torso)
Warnings: No AO3 warnings apply. NSFW, as above.
Fandom: For AO3 purposes I've called this part of the Little Mermaid fandom, but as she's an original character, we'll call it an original work here - saves adding a tag.
Summary: She's from the Icelandic fjords, where you need to be sensibly padded.
Content Notes: Created for the Body Type Diversity challenge - Syntheid and Goss mentioned that if we painted a mermaid she could be a fat mermaid, for example, and that was me bunnied.

This is the second in our series of Diversity challenges. The goal here is to break out of defaulting to the 'ideal' body type when drawing, by focusing on those who are normally left out of common portrayals. (eg. fat/disfigured/gender non-conforming people/etc.).

Drawesome Challenge 15 - Body Type Diversity

Challenge #15: Body Type Diversity

Create a drawing featuring someone of a different body type or size than the 'ideal' that is usually seen in media.

You can challenge yourself to draw a human/humanoid body type that's completely different to your own, or a body type that you identify with but rarely see in media, or even one that you've never attempted before. The comment section of this post may be used for discussion of the prompt (ie. ideas, suggestions, questions, etc.).

A round-up post for submissions to this challenge will be done on Saturday 7th April, 2018.

Happy Drawing, everyone! :)
